Do you have a presentation, an interview or a networking coming up? Wondering the best place to get business attire? Here are herNetwork’s top 5 choices to get business professional as well as business casual outfits.
- Ann Taylor: They always have sales going on. For example, they just had a 50% off all sale items online using the code Fall50. Students discounts are always available when you purchase in store.
- Zara: They have great trendy and not too expensive selections for both men and women and with their physical store right on Newbury St., you can explore Boston while shopping.
- Target: This option might come as a surprise but Target does offer a great variety of business clothing for women. A new collaborative line, Who What Wear, is coming to Target and offers clothes at a $30 price range.
- ASOS: Although ASOS does not have a physical store, it offers free shipping on all orders, clothing at all price ranges, and many discounts.
- Express: Express is known for selling business casual and other business attire and although many college students view their style as a bit odd, the quality is very high.
Whether you’re going somewhere warm or just looking forward to summer, here are some top beauty picks to help you enjoy your fun in the sun.
During the day, the Clinique Chubby Stick Moisturizing Lip Color Balm creates a natural tint while nourishing your lips. For those of you who love wearing a coral color, a lipstick is a great contrast for the evening. You can also try the Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream Lip Protectant Stick if you’re looking for lip colour and SPF protection all in one!
If you don’t have a glowing tan yet, check out the Terracotta line from Guerlain or the bronzing powders from Bobbi Brown for a natural looking bronzer.
Don’t forget to give your nails some attention too, with a bright nail polish that will make your sandals really stand out. Essie’s two colors, Bikini So Teeny and Coral Reef, are ideal for the beach.
A standout new fragrance for the spring/summer is the Tory Burch Jolie Fleur Bleue Eau de Parfum. It is an intoxicatingly crisp, floral scent that is the perfect elegant fragrance.
Although we all want to work on our tans, always remember to protect your skin with sunscreen. Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Body Mist Sunscreen is easy to apply, comes in a range of SPFs and leaves skin feeling light. Additionally, many face creams include SPF so explore your favourite skin care brand to find a cream that works for you. Moisturize your skin after a day in the sun and if your skin needs some extra pampering, use Burt’s Bees Aloe & Linden Flower After SunSoother. Finally, cleanse the day of sunscreen and makeup away with a refreshing yes to Cucumbers facial wipe!
Have a nice Spring Break!

Last Tuesday, we were excited to kick off our Spring Semester with Food & Fashion! Dressing professionally is a skill that every aspiring worker should master. However, it is often one of the most contradictory and complicated areas for women to learn since we have so many different style choices to choose from everyday.
By the end of this post, you’ll be an expert on how to dress appropriately for Business Professional, Business Casual, Fashionable/Creative Business, and Smart or Dressy Casual.
Check out the infographic I’ve made below for details:
Big take-away: While there are fundamental rules when it comes to dressing appropriately for the work place, some of these rules should be taken with a grain of salt. Each workplace and work culture varies, so as a general rule, you should dress appropriately for your job. In some work environments the dress code may even vary from team to team.
However, conservative dress is appreciated during interviews and typically the first day of work; unless you already know that your office is casual.
It’s the holiday season and whether you’re shopping for beauty gifts, creating the perfect holiday look or putting some last minute requests on Santa’s list, here are some favorite beauty products to try!
Lips and Eyes
It wouldn’t be the holidays without a red lipstick. The Elizabeth Arden Beautiful Color Moisturizing Lipstick in matte red is long lasting and adds a vibrant pop of color. Use Chanel’s Lèvres Scintillantes lipgloss on top of your lipstick to create the perfect festive holiday look.
Whether you’re going for a smoky eye or a golden glow, Urban Decay Moondust Eyeshadow in Diamond Dog adds a touch of sparkle to your eyes that is great for holiday parties and New Year’s celebrations.
Butter’s West End Wonderland is a glitzy gold sparkly nail lacquer that works well when applied on top of another colour. For the holidays, I would suggest using a base coat of red Essie nail lacquer with the gold on top. Don’t forget to seal with a topcoat (Butter has one with a long thin brush that is easy to apply and dries quickly).
Bath and Body
Lush Ocean Salt is an amazing face and body scrub. Although it may be a little harsh to use on your face, as a body scrub it leaves skin feeling smooth and refreshed.
L’Occitane has a wide range of moisturizing creams from their Shea Butter Hand Cream to their thick Pure Shea Butter. My favourite lotion this season is from their collection with Pierre Hermé, the French pastry chef. The Pamplemousse Rhubarbe Body Lotion is a unique combination of scents that leaves a lingering perfume throughout the day.
Looking for a decadent and luxurious body cream? Jo Malone’s Body Crèmes are just that: thick and hydrating. Any choice from Jo Malone makes a great holiday gift, whether it’s a candle, body wash or Vitamin E hand treatment. The most difficult task is choosing from their wide variety of scents. Some of my favorites are: White Jasmine & Mint, Pomegranate Noir, Lime Basil & Mandarin, Blackberry & Bay and Wood Sage & Sea Salt.
