So, you live far away and can’t go home or you’re staying in town to pick up a couple of extra shifts at work. Whatever your reason, being on campus when everyone is back in their hometowns can be start to feel lonely quick. But lucky for BU students, we go to school in an amazing city filled with fun stuff to do!
Go for a walk in the Common
This is one of my favorite things to do in the city, especially during the winter! Throw on some cozy clothes and take a stroll through the beautifully decorated Boston Common. It’s easy: just bring a book, some music and hangout while sipping on steamy hot chocolate. (P.S. Frog Pond is up and running this time of year so don’t forget your skates!)
Go shopping at the Pru
During a season filled with so much giving, it’s nice to take a second for some personal retail therapy. Without your usual companions accompanying you, shopping alone can be incredibly soothing. It gives me the opportunity to do as Leanne Tuohy suggests and take a second to ask myself “Is this me?” before buying. The Prudential Center located on Boylston Street boasts a ton of well-known shops like Sephora, Lululemon, Aritzia, and more. So, head on over and get ready to shop ‘til you drop.
Take yourself out
An ultimate show of independence, going out for a night on the town by yourself can make you feel like all that and a bag of chips. (Just be safe outside alone at night!) My favorite “Date with Me” is dinner and a movie. I could go on and on about the number of delectable restaurants scattered all over the city but I’ll just tell you about one of my favorites. Located in Fenway, right around the corner from Regal Theater which you’ll be heading to after, is Sweet Cheeks BBQ. If you’re ever craving southern food look no further, and (because you’re alone) licking your fingers is perfectly acceptable. After you’ve been stuffed like a turkey, it’s time to sit down for some quality entertainment. When it’s time to choose which film to watch you’re in luck because guess what? You’re alone, so watch what YOU want!
Enjoy the rest of your break!
