Thankful for Thanksgiving TV Specials

Written by: Ly Phan

It’s Thanksgiving and finally you can take a break from school (for a few days). Now, what would you do with all that free time? herNetwork is here to help! Below is a list of our most favorite Thanksgiving TV specials in case you need some entertainment for your Turkey dinner.

1. Friends Season 5: Episode 8: The One with All the Thanksgiving

My top choice wouldn’t come as a surprise for many people. This episode is a perfect combination of comedy with a little bit of romance as well. It has ridiculously flashbacks of different characters’ worst Thanksgiving experiences plus the perfect moment when Chandler tells Monica he loves her.

2. How I Met Your Mother Season 3: Episode 9: Slapsgiving

If there is one thing that is better than Thanksgiving, it is definitely Slapsgiving! I bet you wouldn’t be able to hold of your laughter watching Barney dreading the moment when Marshall will slap him. (BONUS: this episode sequel – Slapsgiving 2: Revenge of the Slap is super funny as well.)

3. New Girl Season 2: Episode 8: Parents

Watching Jess trying to rekindle her divorce parents will never fail to bring you some laughter. It doesn’t get more “Jess” than this. Also, the guest appearance of Jamie Lee Curtis and Ross Reiner definitely adds some extra element of fun.

4. Modern Family Season 6: Episode 8: Three Turkeys

Claire’s secret preparation for a back-up turkey is the most mom move ever! This somewhat disastrous family Thanksgiving dinner is so relatable and hilarious at the same time. I think, this episode definitely deserves the title of a Thanksgiving classic. Great job, Modern Family!

5. The Mindy Project Season 1 Episode 6: Thanksgiving

The final must-watch Thanksgiving special is no other than episode 6 of The Mindy Project season 1. Mindy’s awkward encounter with her formal blind date and his entrance of slowly falling down the stairs is so entertaining to watch. I must say, this is my most favorite episode from season 1 of The Mindy Project!
