A Recap of our Second General Meeting: Discussing “Lean In”

Sheryl Sandberg is the COO of Facebook, and author of the book Lean In. At our second general meeting, we discussed the different issues that women face every day in business. Here are a few tips that Sandberg offers to be your very best:

  1. Stop apologizing. Why do women feel the need to apologize for everything that they do? If you take the lead on a project, suddenly you feel that you are too bossy and need to apologize. You never need to apologize, unless you actually do something wrong. Taking the lead doesn’t make you bossy and rude– it makes you a leader.
  1. You can’t please everyone. This is a simple fact that everyone knows in life, but is often overlooked. Of course, you should be kind to everyone that you meet, but you will not always click with everyone. And that is okay.
  1. Own your spot at the table. It is often difficult to feel confident when starting a new career, or when you’re in a room that you’re unfamiliar with. It is even harder to feel confident when you’re a woman. Always remember that you earned your position and you deserve to be there.
